When a guide is not enough
ZenEmu can help with ordinary practical difficulties. It cannot assess danger, make clinical decisions, give legal or benefits advice, or decide an individual safeguarding situation.
Choose the doorway that fits best. You do not need to read the whole page first.
I or somebody else may be in immediate danger
Call 999 or go to A&E / an Emergency Department.
Use this if somebody cannot be kept safe, has a life-threatening injury, or has taken an overdose. If you are not sure whether this applies, use an emergency route rather than wait for a guide to settle the question.
I need urgent mental-health help
Choose the nation you are in:
- England — NHS urgent mental-health help
- Wales — NHS 111 Press 2
- Scotland — NHS inform urgent mental-health help
- Northern Ireland — NI Direct crisis and despair help
These pages explain the current route where you live. If there is immediate danger, use 999 or an Emergency Department instead.
A partner, ex-partner or family member is frightening, controlling or hurting me
Use the UK Government’s domestic-abuse help page. It routes to the appropriate current service by nation and has routes for someone who is worried about another person.
You do not need to decide what word best describes the situation before asking for advice. If you think your device or browsing may be monitored, use a safer device if you can.
I need independent advice about money, housing, benefits or work
Start with the advice service for the nation you live in:
For debt advice, use the national route that distinguishes England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. For work rights or a workplace dispute, use Acas in England, Scotland or Wales, or the Labour Relations Agency in Northern Ireland.
If there is a deadline on a letter, benefit decision, hearing, possession notice or tribunal form, use an appropriate specialist route promptly. ZenEmu cannot decide whether a deadline applies or tell you what to put in a claim.
I need someone independent to help me be heard
An independent advocate can help you understand a care or support process, make your own view known, or take part in a decision. They do not make the decision for you.
Clinical questions belong with the appropriate service
ZenEmu cannot diagnose autism or another condition, assess medication, recommend a provider, make a referral, or decide what treatment is needed.
For a non-urgent clinical question, use your GP practice, existing care team or the appropriate local NHS route. For urgent help, use the mental-health or emergency route above.
